Hi, my name is Edith Joanna Mendoza… and I’m the oldest of three, but I don’t see myself taking the role as the oldest, because my younger sister ended up taking that role… her name is Sandra. She is my best friend. She takes care of the family and honestly I don’t know what I’d do without her. A few weeks ago she went to urgent care 3/14 because she wasn’t able to breathe. She has asthma and she is obese, she has always struggled with those issues and she has always retained water. There was no surprise there. At urgent care they were going to let her go home, but they saw her feet were swollen they sent her to St. Jude ER… not thinking the worst was going to happen… she ended up having pneumonia and on 3/15 for about 20 seconds she went unresponsive where they had to install a tube down her throat! Putting her on a ventilator machine! Thankfully we got all of our family and friends together and started praying for her, but unfortunately her lungs were to damaged… she had to be put on ECMO machine… she needed to be transferred to UCI medical center in Orange where they did an amazing job in treating her, but again lungs were damaged so she needed to get tracheotomy procedure done… now she has to be with a trachea tube on her… making her unable to talk and eat for a while of course in time and with therapy she will be able to learn how to do that again, but unfortunately she had to stop work for the time being and that’s the reason I am doing this page to help my sister out. She has been there for me for everything I want to give a little back to her. I really thought I lost her, I am so grateful for all my family and friends though because without them I would be lost. Her husband also has to take some time off work to help her with her therapy as well. So any bit helps. Thank you in advance
