Help create a Snoezelen area for Tyler
Donation protected
Our 14 year old son, Tyler (TyTy) was diagnosed with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral palsy due to contracting Bacterial Meningitis at 3 weeks old.
He is non-verbal, and non-ambulatory, which means he is not able to walk or talk. We have various pieces of equipment for him and a high-tech eye gaze device to allow him to communicate.
We have tried to give him the best quality of life possible by doing various surgeries in the USA to help alleviate pain and stiffness in his muscles. These surgeries were more invasive with a longer recovery time in Canada. We did various fundraisers to raise the money to pay for the $20,000 surgeries.
He is a happy boy that enjoys life and his peers in Grade 9 at Highschool in the CPP program.
We want to create a Snoezelen(sensory)area for him at home to help him stay calm and engaged through lighting effects, colour, sounds, music, and bubble machines. He loves using them at school and overnight camp.
This would be an amazing Christmas gift for him! He is so deserving after the difficult start to the year with G-tube surgery and a 2 month stay at McMaster due to Covid.
It is very expensive to create a sensory area so we are reaching out for help to support Tyler. It would be so beneficial for him to have this area to help him stay calm and have fun.
Please share this page with as many friends and family that you can for our sweet, smiley boy Ty Ty.
All of the pictures are of Ty using sensory areas at school or overnight camp. So calming...
Thank you,
Kelly
