Hi everyone!

My sweet girl, Kira, was recently diagnosed with a mast cell tumor, and the cancer has spread to her lymph node. Her tumor has become unstable, so she needs to have surgery next Monday. We were extremely lucky to be referred to a vet who could perform the surgeries for about $1,900, but I’m struggling to afford her procedure. I’ve already spent over $2,000 in the past 3 weeks, and I’ve been living off of student loans since starting school again.

For those who don’t know Kira, she is the sweetest, most loving, and dramatically, passive aggressive blessing that has ever come into my life. She is the reason I’m still here. Through all the difficulties, diagnoses, medications, and treatments I’ve faced these last 7 years, she was there.

She was there during the moments I was tired of fighting, when I couldn’t get out of bed, when I couldn’t trust my mind and felt like I was unraveling, and when I felt like everything was slipping through my fingers no matter how hard I clawed or clung on. She laid with me at my lowest and loved me through it all.

She was my anchor to a reality that didn’t always feel real. At times, she was my only light when life seemed bleak and the night felt impossibly dark. I was her world, so I couldn’t leave. Kira saved my life simply by existing.
