Anna's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hello,
Over Christmas break, the DuBose family received overwhelming news about my mother’s health. Know that Anna is okay. She is recovering from a stroke that has left her temporarily disabled. Until the minute of her stroke, my mom remembered not feeling well but proceeded to go to the bathroom and get ready for work as she usually would, which is where my aunt and uncle found her moments after she had collapsed alone. Anna was rushed to an ICU at the nearest hospital, where we were told her stroke was caused by a blood clot located in the right hemisphere of her brain. In less than 48-hours, the blood clot was successfully removed without causing more stress to Anna's heart and damage to her brain.
I never anticipated my mom to be in this position as she is the strongest and otherworldly human being I have ever known. My mom is my rock, queen, and guide in this life. I have been told that I take after her, and I believe that I am Anna's reflection in every shape and form. Every successful stride I take in this life is followed in my mother’s footsteps. Not only is she a survivor, but she is also my hero. She has given birth to four strong independent children fighting every day to keep her motivated while receiving physical therapy in a rehabilitation facility in San Bernardino County.
I want to ask the community for help to support Anna's road to recovery and healing. Whether in prayers or financial support, anything and everything will help. Today, Anna can speak clearly, except for a few slurred words here and there. Her memory is phenomenal for someone in her condition, and her quick-witted attitude has not changed. However, her physical pain limbos throughout each day which disrupts her ability to keep a positive outlook on life as it is now.
Nevertheless, she is determined to find ways to work, knowing that she hasn’t been accumulating an income. Those who know my mom understand her stubbornness and determination to perform under any circumstance, including a stroke. She’s always been a fighter, but it is time for her to ease her mind to recover successfully without putting more stress on her body. Today Anna turns 65-years-old, and it would be the greatest gift to show her how much support she has from a community she has called home for 15+ years. God has shown me the beautiful struggle in more ways than I have asked for, and I accept all the challenges God has planned for me. I have endured this new level of vulnerability, and I am learning (again) that I do not have to struggle alone.
That being said, I created a fundraiser to help my mom pay for the settlement cost of the storage unit where her belongings have been stored while she has been in rehab. My goal is to fundraise the finances to cover the settlement agreement and the cost(s) to haul her items into a new storage unit where her belongings will be stored month-to-month. To prevent her things from being auctioned, I am traveling to Riverside in two weeks to meet the April 23rd deadline to pay and coordinate this process. If you can contribute financial support, please click on the link and share it with friends of the DuBose family. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will always be forever grateful for all of the support I’ve received from my community, family and friends who’ve shown up during this time.
Ps. Please let me know if you would like to personally reach out to my mom with prayers and uplifting recovery stories. She has a new cell phone number that I would be more than happy to share with you if you are interested in communicating with her at this time.
Thank you, and God bless,
