Message from Dexter's mom:
"Hi friends,
Many of you have met and loved my fur baby Dexter over the years and know just what a sweet loving boy he is. A few weeks ago he had a urinary blockage, which is deadly to cats if left untreated. We got him the help he needed, but unfortunately he become blocked again just a few days ago. He’s been in the ER the last few nights, and last night he tore his catheter out and reblocked for the 3rd time. He is now in need of a surgery that is completely above my families ability to cover, and we are reaching out to our communities to seek help. We know times are hard for everyone, but Dex is family, and we will do anything we can to get him through this. Absolutely anything helps, and I thank you so much for all the love and support so far❤️"
About this GoFundMe:
Dexter has been a cherished member of my sister's family for eight years. Through three moves across different states, there was never a question about whether Dexter would come along—he is family, and he means the world to her. Now, Dexter is facing a life-threatening medical emergency. He is no longer able to pass urine on his own, and he needs a Perineal urethrostomy (PU) surgery to allow him to urinate. This is his second hospital visit for this issue, and a far more serious prognosis. Without this surgery, Dexter will not make it, and though she and her family are doing everything they possibly can, they cannot afford this procedure on their own.
All funds raised will go directly toward Dexter’s surgery, hospitalization, and recovery. He will need to stay in the hospital for several days, and his recovery at home will also involve some costs, as there are risks for complications. They need help to give Dexter the chance he deserves. Losing him would be devastating, and your support could make all the difference in keeping this special cat with the people who love him most.
We know times are tough for everyone, and any contribution—no matter the size—would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your kindness and support. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to help Dexter and his family through this difficult time.
