Jim Wynne......Most know him as JT or Jr. and I bet 90% of you know him through his love of baseball, bowling or bow hunting.
JT was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon cancer in December of 2017. After surgery to remove the tumor, he underwent 6 months of chemotherapy. After JT completed his chemotherapy and a follow-up PET scan revealed a small area which his oncologist thought was scar tissue. They scheduled a follow-up appointment in 3 months, followed by another PET scan in 6 months. The Wynne family along with their doctor were optimistic that they had beaten the cancer.
In just 2 months JT developed agonizing back pain. He was seen by a chiropractor, walk-in clinic visits, ER visits and finally went back to his doctor. His doctor ordered a PET scan, which revealed news they didn't want to hear. The cancer had spread to his abdomen, neck, back and lungs. This was the cause of his severe pain. JT's cancer has now been advanced to Stage 4 Colon cancer. His cancer is no longer curable, and is only treated to slow the progression of his cancer. JT has started a very aggressive course of chemotherapy. His treatments are twice a month, and will last for at least one year; with PET scans every 3-4 months. His treatments may change in the future, but will never end.
This second round of treatments has caused even more hardship for the Wynne family. JT is self-employed running a small business by himself, therefore he has no sick or vacation pay. When JT isn't able to work, there is no pay check. Thankfully JT is covered under his wife's insurance plan. Their insurance plan out of pocket costs have increased from $7,500 to $13,000 per year. I asked the Wynne family if I could start a GoFundMe account to assist with some of their medical expenses that have occurred over the past year and future expenses yet to come.
