Hello friends! As many of you know, Brooke is a kind, generous soul with a beautiful path in life ahead of her. She graduated from high school at 16 as the valedictorian of her class and went on to start her freshmen year in 2018 at Canisius college studying pharmaceutical research.

On September 5th of this year Brooke went to immediate care for an x ray that was assumed to be a sprained knee. What they found was a lesion on her thigh bone and she was transferred to ECMC. It was determined that Brooke had a large tumor on her femur and it was aggressively growing. Throughout this process Brooke has been to Roswell for treatment, and underwent 2 surgeries at Children’s hospital attempting to obtain good samples of the tumor.  Each attempt was unsuccessful and her orthopedic oncologist made the decision to take an aggressive approach and do an open biopsy at Buffalo General. On October 9th, she underwent a surgery to remove the tumor. They were able to take most of the tumor out of her femur bone and filled the void with a bone graft and a metal plate to secure the leg. As we await testing and further treatment we are hoping to help the family curb some of the expense that has been accrued. Mom is on family medical leave and taking Brooke to numerous appointments and procedures  and caring for her at home. Dad is working and taking days off as the more invasive procedures are being performed.  Brooke had to medically withdraw from her sophomore year at Canisius college and has been burdened with a bill of thousands of dollars for repayment of loans. Brooke is non weight bearing and requires crutches or a wheelchair as a means of getting around. She is not able to work at this time.
