Art for All

Art for All provides individuals with disabilities at The Arc of San Diego the opportunity to express themselves creatively through art. This program inspires creativity, builds confidence, and teaches fundamental art techniques and skills.

With an increasing demand for creative services amidst COVID-19, it has become a bigger priority and challenge to find creative ways to keep our clients engaged. Art for All allows our clients to learn different art techniques and provides an outlet to express themselves creatively. Twice a month, clients attend art classes in the community at Encinitas for Equality and Escondido Arts Partnership. The art classes are taught by Bryttney-Mischele Salvant, a professional artist with over 15 years of experience. Our clients learn new techniques and work on different projects such as self-portraits, collages, crocheting, and other mediums of art. To date, 26 clients from The Arc of San Diego have benefitted from this program.

In addition to increasing creativity, art is an excellent way for our clients to relieve stress they are facing in their daily lives. Art therapy helps our clients develop their fine motor, communication, and social skills. Art for All also provides our clients with ways to be more involved in their community by visiting new areas, learning about community organizations, and meeting people. At the Art for All Art Show on March 30th, our clients will also have the opportunity to present their work, which will help with self-advocacy and confidence.

Through programs like Art for All, we can offer support to people with disabilities in living independent and fulfilling lives. Funds raised through the Art for All program will ensure that our clients continue to have the opportunity to express themselves creatively.
