Surgical Care for Morgan

Morgan is a one-year-old lab mix recently rescued from the pound in Amelia County, VA. As a stray there, she had suffered several bullet wounds, the worst shattering the humerus of her right front leg. An initial surgery to repair the bone was performed but was unsuccessful. This front leg will now need to be amputated.

Sadly, Morgan has luxating patellas and torn ligaments in both rear legs. The condition needs to be corrected to allow her to remain mobile. Morgan's amputation will take place February 13, 2014. The first surgery on the right rear leg will be March 24 and an anticipated 8 week recuperation time will be allowed before the second rear leg is operated upon.  It is unkown at this time whether or not Morgan may require physical therapy.

Once she has healed from her surgeries, Morgan will work with Therapy Dogs, Inc. and their local group, Caring K9s, to become a therapy dog.  We believe she will be a wonderful inspiration to others who have lost limbs and need encouragement.  Please donate to help her!

Any amounts raised over our goal will be used to help other dogs in our care.

CARE Rescue is a 501c3 IRS non-profit organization and all donations for Morgan's care are 100% tax deductible. Our rescue is counting on the support of the animal loving public to be able to help Morgan to regain her mobility and health, and then to find her a loving, forever home.
