PUNCH OUT PARKINSON'S
Donation protected
On October 20th, 2023 Box2Fit and Punch Out Parkinson’s are hosting a charitable boxing match called Guns and Hoses. The boxing match will feature fights between firefighters and police officers and all the proceeds will be going toward opening a Parkinson’s Wellness Centre in the Lower Mainland.
This cause is near and dear to our hearts. Tina is currently following in her father’s footsteps and working the frontline as a police officer with the Vancouver Police Department in one of the most difficult neighbourhoods in the city. Tina’s father, Gord, worked at the VPD for over 30 years and dedicated his life to a career where he made a difference in his community. Shortly after retiring, Gord was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. A gut-wrenching diagnosis for Gord and the whole family.
Parkinson's Disease is a relentless and debilitating neurological disorder that affects millions of individuals and their families worldwide. It's a disease that gradually robs people of their ability to move and leads to a wide range of challenges, from motor difficulties to cognitive impairments and emotional struggles. Parkinson's doesn't discriminate; it can strike anyone, regardless of age or background. Tina's father, Gord, experienced this firsthand, and it's a battle that no one should face alone.
Tina decided to participate in Guns and Hoses with no prior boxing experience, because she wants to fight for her father and make sure he has somewhere to go to meet people and play his favourite new game – ping pong! The Parkinson’s Wellness Centre that will be opening using the funds from this charitable match will ensure people like Gord have a place to go and mingle with other people who have Parkinson’s Disease. There will be a sense of community, and everyone will get to participate in workouts, socials and activities free of charge.
Box2Fit has already done extraordinary work for Parkinson’s Disease and hosts weekly Punch-Out Parkinson’s classes for those suffering from the disease. This class helps with motor skills and is backed by neurologists for the many benefits that is offers to its participants.
Tina has been working hard and training as much as possible around her busy shift work schedule. Having no prior experience, Tina has come a long way in her boxing skills and is ready to take on the challenge to support her Father and all those who will benefit from the new Parkinson’s Wellness Centre.
For those who can make the gala/fights in-person, contact me for tickets. They are $150.00 and they include a buffet dinner, a seat to the fights, and an after party with live music! (It’s gonna be a great night!)
For those who are unable to make the fight in-person, we are kindly asking for donations of any amount to go toward Tina’s fight and the Parkinson’s Wellness Centre.
We truly appreciate everyone’s support in this cause.
