Lucie

We have the most amazing daughter Lucie who is 5 years. Lucie is needing to be seen by a specialist to be diagnosed for learning difficulties /special needs however the NHS waiting list is 3-5 years.

We have seen the GP and she believes its the best thing for Lucie, the school are also in agreement that Lucie has some sort of learning disability.

The school will not be able to give her the special help and attention she needs without the school getting special funding, the school can only get that if she has a learning disability diagnosis.

The NHS will perform the necessary test’s however the NHS waiting list is 3 to 5 years. Lucie would then be 8-10 years old and be so far behind her age group that she would struggle to catch up.

Our little lucie was born at just 5lb 3oz at 37 weeks, her immune system was not great and because of this she got a horrible illness/infection so was then re-admitted to hospital. Sadly all the time Lucie was trying to fight the infection her brain was not developing properly.

Since then Lucie has alway been a little behind, from newborn we suspected this was due to the illness she got when she was just 4 weeks of age.

She was behind with the normal baby stuff, sitting, crawling and speaking. Later at the age of 3 Lucie was still not speaking, the GP eventually referred us to speech and language therapy. To this day Lucie still really struggle's with her speech.

It’s become clearer to us and our family that she needs extra help. Lucie struggles day to day at home and school.

I myself have autism which was diagnosed at the late age of 13 yrs old. I and the people around me found it so hard how to help and understand me, all I wish for is for us to help and for other people to understand why Lucie is the way she is and to give her the help she so desperately needs.

Lucie will be going into year 1 at school in September 2024, I am hoping to give her the best start in school I possibly can, to do that we will have to go privately.

The cost of a private assessment by a very well known local child psychologist Dr James Winkworth, Cognition Clinical Psychology will be £2000.00 which is beyond our means.

I am really really hoping this go fund me page will allow me to help Lucie going forward.
