Jade's Top Surgery fund

AKA Let's help Jade get something off their chest.

My name is Jade, and I'm a 30-something nonbinary person living in South-East England. I podcast, I play a *lot* of TTRPGs, and I love having my hair dyed bright colours (and yes, I'm aware in that regard, I very much fit the stereotype of what it means to be a white nonbinary person).

I have known I wasn't cis for about 10 years and embraced my trans identity not long after I turned 30.

Despite the rising anti-trans rhetoric so prevalent in the UK at this time, I have only become more sure that pursuing gender-affirming care, specifically top surgery, is something that I need to do for my emotional and mental wellbeing. As many folks are aware, however, the provision for gender-affirming health care on the NHS is greatly oversubscribed, with waitlists that are years long. This, paired with the incredibly binary understanding of trans identity by many in the medical profession, is why I have decided to pursue this surgery in the private sector.

Hence the need for this fundraiser.

While I am in full-time work, my job is minimum wage and does not allow me to save the funds I would need while still being able to support myself. Between my depression and autism, pursuing a better-paid job has proved beyond difficult, and with the rising costs of living in the UK, things seem unlikely to change for the better.
