Emanuel Steib born August 28 1967 and raise in the 9th ward of New Orleans, La. was a very talented young man. Emanuel started playing music at a very young age he was a force to be reckoned with on baritone. He got his start in music at Lawless Jr. High and then moved to one of New Orleans most prestigious high school's St Augustine High. St Aug as known in the city as the only all African American Male high school. WWW.STAUGNOLA.ORG While attending this prestigious school he became a member of the Purple Knight Marching Band which is better known as the "Marching 100" under the leadership of Edwin Hampton. Emanuel nick name was "Beanie". After soaring as one of the greatest baritone players in the history of the school Beanie received a scholarship in 1985 to attend the Texas Southern University Ocean of Soul marching band under the leadership of Benjamin J. Butler. While attending TxSU he joined the Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity in the spring of 1986. Beanie had become the front man of many shows performed by the Ocean of Soul. In 1988 Beanie was diagnosed with Diabetes. After falling sick on a band trip he moved back to New Orleans in 1989 to pursue his professional musical journey. While back in the city his uncle Cyril Neville who was a part of the famous Neville Brothers started a family band called Def Generation that included all the Neville's son's, nephews and friends. Meanwhile he was also apart of a up incoming street band called the Soul Rebels Brass Band. The Soul Rebels was formally known as the Young Olympia Brassband. Beanie was a original member and the one of the power points of the band. After performing all over America and Europe he started to take ill again so he took a break from music. He got married and started a family in NOLA then came the dreaded storm "Katrina"and up rooted his family to Houston. While in Houston he lived well until he had a stroke that left his wife and their 2 children Chris & Hope with a serious decision to make. See Emanuel had suffered from a brain tumor and by having a surgery his options were 50/50 life or death. The choice was to live to see his children Chris and Hope grow up. He lived the past 9 years in a assistant living institution were as he took dialysis several times a week to almost daily. He was blind in one eye, paralyze on his left side of his body, couldn't walk and his short term memory was bad. This pass weekend it is sad to say my musical brother was called home. With all that has been said the family has no money's to bury him and I Curtis Watson am asking for your help in taking care of our musical brother with a donation of what ever you can afford. To get him back to New Orleans and the funeral cost is $6500. I am asking my Frats, Sorors, Band Members ,Friends Family and Fans to help with this cost.
