Feb 6, 2019: Kathy wrote: I woke up today asking myself “Is today the day my life will change forever”. Mike was scheduled for an MRI this morning. I was very worried...him not so I much. He has had a headache and severe fatigue for 3 1/2 weeks now. Thought it might be a sinus infection...no. Maybe a problem with his diabetes...no. They found an aneurysm. He was immediately sent to the ED. We transferred him to Good Sam so Dr.Ringer could be his neurosurgeon. Mike is very calm. I don’t think he realized how serious this could be. I’m freaking out inside but hopeful it wasn’t ruptured yet etc. Mike has looked better the last few days. Better than he looked all month. He walked off the stretcher in the Neuro ICU in his work/dress pants. It wasn’t until Dr.Ringer explained the MRI and procedure he was about to do that Mike says “wow, this is more serious than I thought”. Swept him to an angiogram within 30 minutes of arriving at the hospital.
Well it’s almost 2 months Later and they are still on this rollercoaster ride!
Hi, I’m Lesa Saunders, I worked with Kathy for years at Good Sam and am friends through her with Mike. I have been an occupational therapist for 25 years and have treated many Mikes in my career. From the beginning I told Kathy, Mike would get better but it would take time. And unfortunately in the world we live in time is expensive! Mike spent weeks in NSICU and has now been at Acute Rehab for weeks, he will need continued therapy at a SNF before we can manage him at home. I have been contacted by so many people who wanted to help but didn’t know how, so I’m taking the step and telling you how to help! Please donate to this fund and help take some of the financial stress and pressure off Mike and Kathy.
