Hi, this is Karen and I am fundraising to help cover the cost of Eddie's medical expenses.

A week ago Thursday Eddie was not well and vomiting every time he tried to eat. On Friday we took a car ride to the Fish Creek Pet Hospital. Eddie had blood work done which showed all his organs were good. He was sent back to work with antinausea medication. Unfortunately Saturday we had to go back to FCPH as he continued to vomit.

He was taken in quite quickly because of our visit on Friday. The doctor said they needed to do an x-ray to see what was going on. The x-ray showed his stomach and small intestine enlarged which presented as a blockage. The doctor explained that he would require surgery to clear it. I inquired about the cost. She said $3-4000.

I asked if it could wait as I didn't have the funds. She stressed this was an emergency and could not wait. I quickly had to make payment arrangements. They proceeded with the surgery, it was not a blockage. His stomach and small intestine were filled with gas. When they were able to get his stomach down, they found sterile fluid (no infection) around his liver and took a biopsy of his small intestine. They sent these to an outside lab to be tested for organ disease and cancer cells.

The results for the fluid came back first with a high red blood cell count that could indicate an organ disease. The biopsy came back from the small intestine and shows he has an irritation in his small intestine which the doctor feels can be treated with a special diet. They are still unclear about where the fluid is coming from. I am thankful at his point it isn't more serious.

Eddie was released from Fish Creek Pet Hospital last Monday night and has been recovering at my house. He is getting better every day and let me tell you he is anxious to come back here to his home. He is not the most patient fella and he wants outside!

I didn't know what to do that evening as I knew I didn't have the money immediately for his care. I called my brother Mark and his wife Barb and explained the situation. I asked them to please borrow me the money needed for Eddie. Thankfully they did not hesitate so I was able to consent to the surgery.

Eddie's home is here at WC and you are all his family. He misses it and you. We are asking if you can donate any amount to his payback medical fund it would be greatly appreciated!
