Belle’s Cancer Support Fund
Donation protected
We are the Borata-Cress family - Kyle, Amber, Belle & Justus - and this is our story.
Hearing the doctor say “It’s cancer” doesn’t get any easier no matter how many times you hear it. First our son, Justus, then me (Amber), and now our daughter, Belle. In a span of less than 3 years our family has weathered the storm of cancer three times. It’s unbelievable.
Just a few days before Christmas 2018, our sweet 12 year old girl, Belle, began experiencing intense pain in her right leg. She had complained of some minor pains in the previous two weeks and it had sounded like she was having growing pains. But having been down that road before with Justus, we decided to take her to the doctor just to be safe. An x-ray confirmed that there was a mass in her right tibia. The MRI, biopsy & port placement that followed set us on another cancer journey.
Belle has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma - the same aggressive cancer Justus was diagnosed with in 2016. This type of bone cancer is rare to begin with, but siblings having the same diagnosis is unheard of. Belle’s treatment plan will look the same as Justus’ did - lots of chemotherapy, surgery & practically living at the Children’s Hospital in Aurora. Her first day of chemo and the beginning of her 10 month (or so) journey to healing began on January 7th.
Please keep our family in your hearts and prayers - we need ALL OF THE PRAYERS to help get us through this! God is still good, even when life is mean. There are many costs associated with cancer - physical, emotional and financial. This support fund is a huge blessing to our family and will help relieve our financial burden during the coming months. We appreciate your support and your willingness to help us bear this burden.
Any funds raised will go to travel expenses, insurance co-pays, and any expenses not covered by insurance such as cleaning supplies to maintain a sanitized home environment, health supplements, and personal care items for Belle. Also, in lieu of a meal train, a portion of the funds raised will be used to pay for a meal service that caters to the special dietary needs of a cancer-killing family. We are so very thankful for your prayers and support during this time of crisis for our family.
