"I am Leo, I’m 11 years old and still have many years to live. In August 2017 I have been rescued by Tenuta del Mito, a no profit organization which aims to rescue abandoned and stray dogs, especially those with severe behaviour issues. In the ‘Tenuta del Mito’ I found a save place where I could find some hope for my future. It’s two years now that I am looking for a home, a family, but no one has noticed me yet. But, after all, at the ‘Tenuta del Mito’ they take care of me until someone will bring me home. However, this new year has been much less generous to me…”
The morning of the 31st December, Leo, Leone for the closest, started bleeding from his gums. After a rush to the animal hospital, all medical exams started: coagulation exams, emogas, citofluometry, blood count (CBC) and many others. He required a urgent blood transfusion because his body no longer produces red blood cells. On Thursday 3th January 2019, he has been diagnosed with the secondary Evan’s syndrome, an autoimmune hemolytic anemia (IMHA) in conjunction with immune-mediated thrombocytopenia, which requires a lifelong medical treatment. Unfortunately, medical expenses are too high and currently ‘Tenuta del Mito’ no-profit organization is in debt for paying all the bills. Medical bills are 2000 euros just for the initial treatments but will definitely be more in the future, considering the required lifelong medical treatments.
All of the funds will go towards getting Leo back on his feet again and to pay for all medical bills and lifelong medical treatments until he will find a generous family which will love and take care of him.
LEO’S STORY: Leo is a lovely crossbreed small sized dog who only looks for a gentle touch and the warmth of his dog basked placed near the fireplace. Since 2016, in the ‘Tenuta del Mito’ Leo found a safe place where he received all the cares, the cuddles and the attentions needed to such sweet eyed creatures. The youngest volunteer of the ‘Tenuta del Mito’, named Ylenia (8), who is absolutely Leo’s favourite human, is continuously asking about him: “Will Leo come back? Will I have the chance to cuddle him once more? Will he play with me the same way we used to?”.
That’s how Leo is: a quiet but present dog. He always stoods by your side but never invading your space unless asked to, his paw is always ready to reach your leg and his eyes are always ready to look at yours, because, in the end, that’s all he needs.
Please, help us to bring him home, to pay medical expenses and his expensive medical treatments. Help us to give him a second chance, which he really deserves, for the new year.

Nell’ agosto 2017 sono stato salvato dalla ‘Tenuta del Mito’, un' associazione ONLUS che ha come obiettivo quello di salvare cani abbandonati e randagi, specialmente quelli con gravi problemi comportamentali. Nella ‘Tenuta del Mito’ ho trovato un posto sicuro dove trovare un po’ di speranza per il futuro. Ormai sono due anni che cerco una casa, una famiglia ma ancora nessuno mi ha notato, ma dopotutto, alla ‘Tenuta del Mito’ si prendono cura di me finche’ qualcuno mi portera’ a casa. Ma questo 2019 e' stato molto meno gentile con me…"
La mattina del 31 dicembre Leo, Leone per i piu' affezionati, ha cominciato a perdere sangue dalle gengive. Dopo una corsa all'ospedale veterinario, sono cominciati gli esami: per la coagulazione, emogas, citofluorimetria, emocromo. E’ pure stata necessaria una trasfusione di sangue perche' ormai il suo corpo non produce piu i globuli rossi di cui il suo organismo ha bisogno. Il 3 Gennaio 2019, gli e’ stata diagnosticata la sindrome di Evans secondaria, un’anemia emolitica autoimmune. Sfortunatamente, le spese veterinarie sono molto alte e la ‘Tenuta del Mito’ e’ in debito per riuscire a pagare le spese. In piu’, a causa della sindrome, Leo avra’ bisogno di cure farmacologiche per tutta la durata della sua vita.
Tutti i fondi richiesti andranno per rimettere in seso Leo, pagare tutte le spese veterinarie e per sostenere le spese dei farmaci che dovra’ assumere per sempre finche’ una famiglia generosa decidera’ di adottarlo e prendersi cura di lui.
LA STORIA DI LEO: Leo e' un meticcio taglia piccola, buono come il pane che tutto cio' che cerca e’ solo il conforto di una carezza e il calore della sua cuccia preferita accanto alla stufa. Alla 'Tenuta del Mito' ha trovato un punto fermo, sicuro, dove non gli sono mai mancate le cure, le coccole e le attenzioni che si devono ad una creatura con lo sguardo pieno d'amore come il suo. La nostra piccola volontaria Ylenia, la sua preferita, ora ci chiede di lui. Se tornera, se potra portarlo a spasso, coccolarlo e giocarci come faceva un tempo. Perche Leo e' cosi', un cane silenzioso, ma presente, sempre al tuo fianco ma mai invadente, con la zampina sempre pronta a sollevarsi per toccarti la gamba e far si che i vostri sguardi s'incontrino perche alla fine, a lui basta solo questo.
Aiutateci a riportarlo a casa, aiutateci a pagare le onerose spese veterinarie e le terapie che Leo dovra’ seguire. Aiutateci a dargli la secconda possibilita in cui tutti credono quando comincia l'anno nuovo, ma che pochi come lui, meritano.
