Help Jessica's Family Avoid Eviction

Hello, I’m Jessica. And I’m here on behalf of my family.

I am starting this fundraiser as a last resort to avoid a court-ordered eviction, and keep our family in our apartment home.

We’ve had a series of financial setbacks due to a covid-related job loss in the summer of 2021. And we’ve been struggling to make ends meet ever since. So even though my husband and I have worn our masks well, it’s time to put aside our pride, and finally take them off.

After his job loss, he was out of work for 5 months. No one knew. And needless to say, unemployment was not enough to cover the bills. So he took a job, but it was barely enough. Rising inflation further contributed to the issue as well. And every job offer since then has paid either the same, or less than what he’s making now.

After taking what is his current job (and at a devastating pay cut), I quickly began researching, and found an emergency covid relief program that covered our rent and utilities for an extended period of time. It was a great chance to get caught up on all of the other bills that had fallen to the wayside.

In January of 2024, all remaining Covid emergency rental relief funds were cut. Covid was no longer an issue to the government, but the effects of it still linger with us, and many I personally know. So over the past 7 months we have used up all of our savings and emergency resources and put it towards keeping a roof over our heads.

In addition to the rent issue, almost 2 months ago, our only working vehicle kicked the transmission bucket. The repair will cost around $4,000.00. So understandably, we have been living off of the good graces of neighbors and close friends ever since.

Our eviction court date is July 8th. And we have been diligently working with a few agencies and legal aid to help. However, the amount listed is what is still needed. So we are humbly asking for any help to satisfy this debt.

Our community has become an important part of the stability of the friendships and support we have been building, which is one of the many reasons we greatly desire to stay in our home and school district. My children have grown up here. So any help you may feel called to give would be tremendously appreciated.
