Bandit the Australian shepherd is in dire need of medical help after a car accident. Unfortunately, I accidentally hit him when he ran out onto the road, and I didn't have enough time to stop fully beforehand.

Bandit has an air pocket outside his lungs that needs treated as soon as possible to keep him alive, but fortunately he has no broken bones or other internal damage, just severe external wounds on his legs that require surgery.

He's at the emergency vet right now with his loving owners, but the family doesn't have the funds to cover the costs. I've offered to help as much as I can, but the treatments may go up to or past $3,000, which I can't afford myself. So I've started this fundraiser to help Bandit and his family out. All donations will go toward Bandit's medical costs.

He seems like such a sweet boy who could really use all the help he can get!

Update 1: Bandit is home now after the ER visit. Air pocket was removed, but he'll still need the leg surgery and other medical care, which he'll be going back to the vet on Monday. So far, the bill has been $1,100, which will continue to grow with more procedures and surgery. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Update 2: Bandit went to a local vet today, and we found out that his one ankle is dislocated (the ER vet had missed that apparently). He's staying at the vet for a couple nights as well. And he'll need orthopedic surgery and may need to go to a specialist at another ER place instead. Which unfortunately means the costs keep rising and will probably be several thousand dollars. Update 3: Bandit is currently staying with the vet for at least the week, maybe up to 12 days. They found his ankle was dislocated and thought he would need surgery. But they talked to the surgeon who thinks it can be fine with just a splint.

The rest of the treatment will go toward his external wounds that got pretty bad, where he lost quite a bit of skin. So the cost altogether at this vet will probably be around $2,000 (on top of the $1,000 from the ER vet on Saturday).
