On what was meant to be a joyful trip to visit family in Tupelo, our lives were turned upside down in an instant. My brother-in-law, Alex, was driving from his home in Orlando, FL, to spend the weekend with family and experienced a sudden tire blowout. In an instant, his car lost control and collided head-on with an 18-wheeler. It is nothing short of a miracle that he is still with us today.

The impact left Alex with severe injuries to the entire right side of his body. He underwent extensive surgery to repair his right arm and right foot, both of which were badly damaged. He also suffered broken ribs and a fractured sternum—painful injuries that will take time, care, and therapy to heal.

Alex is a skilled welder who loves his craft and takes so much pride in his work. Unfortunately, his injuries mean he will be unable to work for an extended period as he goes through rehabilitation and physical therapy. This recovery will be a long road, and the financial strain of medical expenses, therapy costs, and lost wages is overwhelming.
