Prince was found on the streets of Yuma in November to be neutered, but once he was at the clinic, we learned something heartbreaking: he is FIV positive and suffering from stomatitis, a severe, painful dental disease. He has likely been in agonizing pain for months, maybe years. He was starving to death and too weak to be put under anesthetic.

The woman who found him has spent this time gently earning his trust. Every day he becomes more loving and more hopeful… but his mouth hurts so badly that his future is very uncertain. He cannot continue to live in this much pain – that would be cruel. She has worked hard to provide him high nutrition in a soft format that he can eat and get him strong enough to be ready now. The local shelter wanted to destroy him because the cost of removing his infected, rotting teeth seemed unjustified for a cat they felt would never be loving enough to be adopted. We disagree. Kathy Lynch has taken a special interest in his case and is working to get him an appointment so he can finally get relief.

Without help, his options are not good.

With help, he can have his bad teeth removed, recover, and go on to live a comfortable, happy life. And we have faith he WILL be loving and be adopted one day. If you are able to contribute any amount toward his dental care, or if you can help by sharing his story, it will make a real difference.
