The Schreck family home in Shelbina Missouri was tragically destroyed by a fire on October 23, 2025. We are so grateful that Joe was rescued by a neighbor and made it out safely. If not for her heroic actions and quick thinking we would be facing a much more difficult outcome. He was airlifted to Mizzou University Hospital in Columbia, Mo where he was treated for severe smoke inhalation. Multiple agencies responded to the fire unfortunately the house was a total loss as well as his primary vehicle.
A lifetime of memories, photos, and belongings are gone. He was left with nothing but the clothes on his back and now faced with the daunting task of starting over from scratch. This tragedy is a reminder of how precious life is, and we are so thankful for his safety but the path to rebuilding is long.
Many of you have reached out asking how you can help and for that we are grateful we have created this gofundme to help him with immediate needs such as temporary housing, food and clothes. The funds will also be used for long-term recovery including essentials like medications, household items, and even potential medical bills. Any donation no matter the size will make a tremendous difference and is so genuinely appreciated. If you are not in the position to donate please consider sharing this campaign. Your prayers, kindness and support mean the world to us during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you,
The Schreck family
