Hi, my name is Kerry and I’m raising money to join YWAM’s Discipleship Training School (DTS). Telling people about Jesus is so important to me because He pulled me out of so much darkness and changed my life and I want people to experience the same transformation.

When I was 13 I got in with the wrong crowd; drinking, smoking, taking drugs, sleeping around and also being an awful person to others including my family. This went on for years and during that time I got into witchcraft and satanism.

My mental health was on a constant downward spiral and I couldn’t see a way out - everything was meaningless and I felt so numb. I was on medication and in therapy for years but nothing helped.

My sister invited me to her baptism and my response was “I will literally burst into a ball of flames if I step foot in a church.” I went anyway - covered in demonic tattoos - expecting to be met with so much judgement. I even joked about bringing a black bathbomb and jumping in the baptism pool.

I ended up having an encounter with the Holy Spirit. My whole body felt warm as though being hugged from the inside out. I got this sense of belonging, of feeing loved, chosen, wanted, seen - all the things I’d been craving all my life. Things I’d chased through taking drugs or going from one relationship to the other.

God has since changed me from the inside out. I no longer live the way I used to and I have a hope and a purpose for the future.

I feel that God has called me to go on this mission trip with YWAM to share the good news with people who have yet to hear it. The DTS involves 3 months of learning and equipping before being sent out for 3 months to a country that hasn’t yet heard the gospel. The money for the course covers all of the lecture phase, food, accommodation and flights to wherever we end up being sent!
