Theo is my 7-month-old puppy and the sweetest, most caring dog I’ve ever known. He’s my little shadow, always by my side, and has nothing but love to give. Despite his young age, Theo has already faced more challenges than most dogs ever will. He was dumped on the side of the road, suffering from a severe case of hookworms, anemia, and dehydration. When the Orange County Shelter picked him up, he was immediately placed on the euthanasia list. I couldn’t let that be his fate, so I rescued him and he spent three days in the hospital recovering from his ordeal.
After bringing Theo home and nursing him back to health, I thought the worst was behind us. But soon, he started getting sick again. After countless tests and visits to the vet, we discovered that Theo has a very large intrahepatic shunt, a serious condition that requires surgery to correct. Without this surgery, his prognosis is very poor. He will be having his surgery at the UF Small Animal Hospital, where they will insert an implant that will hopefully coil the shunt, allowing it to start working better. The funds raised will go directly toward his surgery, hospitalization, and the medication he’ll need to recover and thrive.
Theo deserves a chance at a long and happy life. He’s just a sweet little boy who loves everyone he meets, and I want to give him every opportunity to enjoy the life he was meant to have. Any support you can offer will make a world of difference for Theo and help him get the care he desperately needs. Thank you for considering helping my little shadow.
