Support for Karen’s Children

Every now and then you come across someone so special they take your breath away. Karen was that person - funny, kinder than kind, courageous, and the absolute best Mum (to everyone, not just her kids). Karen was a defender and advocate of people living with any kind of pain or injustice. She would give her last penny to anyone who needed, and volunteered for various organisations that work to meet people’s most basic needs and to influence people with the power to make changes for them. Unfortunately she was an expert because she had faced a lifetime of pain, abuse, injustice and systemic failure. Devastatingly, on the 1st August 2022 the weight of this suffering robbed this world of beautiful Karen. Throughout everything she went through she was a rock for her four incredible children, and they were for her. They have inherited their Mum’s brilliance, courage and determination. Even in this, the absolute worst time of their lives, they are holding one another up, rallying around each other and speaking up about the injustice that their mum and others face, with the eloquence and bravery they share with their Mum. But they need our help. They are all young adults and despite working so hard, they are each in circumstances that mean that that cash is short. We are raising money to give them some time to breathe, to give Karen the funeral she deserves, to help them rebuild their lives and to carry on the remarkable legacy that Karen has left. Just an update regarding how the money will reach Karen's children (as requested by gofundme). The money will be transferred to Codie McBride, my friend Karen's eldest daughter. Codie will then use the money for the family to pay for funeral expenses, access medical support that they may need and for living expenses as they rebuild their lives.
