Kaleb Hills-Dagenais, fighting lymphoma

Kaleb Hills-Dagenais - The fight against Lymphoma
This young boy of 10, has been having a the battle of his life. What we first thought was a pinched nerve in his back turned into a very life changing diagnosis. Late October Kaleb started to feel back pain after a recent motor vehicle accident. Both Jason and Kelsey were concerned and started to take him into the doctors to start getting answers. After what seemed like forever they thought that Kaleb had a pinched nerve in his back. Which isn’t completely wrong but they would never expect what came next. Kaleb was starting Pyshio and was starting to get a bit better, but then over the weekend of Dec 8th while he was down in Creston with his mom, he started to lose functions in his lower limbs. By Sunday he had a hard time standing and walking. Jason (dad) took Kaleb into the drs on Monday where they ordered a urgent CT scan, the following day in Cranbrook. Kelsey (mom) took Kaleb Tuesday December 10th for his CT scan and then were sent to the emergency room to help with pain control. When the paediatrician showed up he took a look over Kaleb as well as the scan and came back and told us he will be going to Vancouver Children’s hospital. At this point Kelsey called Jason up at work and told him what has come of his CT scan they didn’t know many details but Kaleb would be air lifted to Vancouver in the next day or two due to a snow storm. Fast forward at some point in the evening they found out that something was pressing up against his spinal cord, but no further details. Wednesday Dec 12, Kaleb was flown up on the Heli Jet Jason by his side. Kelsey was able to get on a commercial flight at almost the same time and meet them at the BC Children’s hospital. Wednesday evening a neurosurgeon took a look at Kaleb and said he would be going for an MRI Thursday morning. Thursday morning another neurosurgeon looked at him and rushed him down for an MRI at 9am, after his MRI they all met back in his room where they were told there was a tumour wrapped around the spinal cord and he would be going for surgery right now. Kalebs surgery went well and they were able to remove 95% of the tumour with no problems, the pain and numbness in his legs and feet were already starting to go away. While they waited for the biopsy results from the tumour Kaleb started Pyshio making great strides to regaining the muscle and moved in his legs and feet, lost from the tumour putting pressure on the nerves. December 18th they got the news they were dreading to hear, Kaleb was diagnosed with Lymphoma and will have to receive Chemo. This young boy is a fighter he has gone thru major back surgery as well as found out devastating news about his health. While Kelsey and Jason stay with him in Vancouver they also have two house holds to support back in Elkford as well as keep life as normal as they can for Jarred and Khloe. There not to sure how long they will be in Vancouver but it will definitely be at least a month here and then another 6 months hopefully closer to home but not exactly sure where they will be allowed to go. The family faces so many uncertainties, unknowns at this time, Christmas away from the rest of the family and home. Please help relieve the stress at these hard times.
