As you know, I have Muscular Dystrophy and about 4 years ago suffered a major fall and ended up in a wheelchair full time. Being in a wheelchair has made life quite interesting. Raising 3 kids is not an easy job and raising 3 kids in a wheelchair is even harder. As a mom, there are many times I feel like I failed my kids. But then I see them and their compassion and willing to help and I can’t help but to think my disability has helped them understand  and be more compassionate. About 5 months ago, I started working with Ottobock, my orthotist and the insurance companies to change my life. The C-Brace is a new brace and the best way I can describe its technology is like hydraulic legs. The battle with the insurance company has been an uphill battle because the braces are $180,000 for the pair (yes, you read that right). I finally got approval and worked with the demo braces to make sure they would help me walk. After the trial run, I am moving forward. My out of pocket expense is $7,104. To some, that may not be a lot of money, but to me, it is. That’s where I am asking for any help. Any little bit would help. These braces will eventually replace the wheelchair and I can begin living a more “normal” life without so many roadblocks. Thank you so much for anything ❤️
