Help Save Basement Records

Donation protected
Y’all know that community is important to us, and especially everyone in our record store family and community. And when someone in our community suffers a loss, we want to do what we can to help make things better.

On the morning of September 2, our friend Matt Adkisson lost his entire livelihood when someone accidentally drove their car into the storefront of Basement Records on Chapman Highway in South Knoxville, destroying all of Matt’s best inventory, plus tables and crates, as well as the entire front of the store.

While this is enough to have to deal with at any given time, what you may or may not know is that just a week before this accident, Matt lost his mother to Covid-19 and had just laid her to rest.

Matt has insurance, and that will help re-build. But, what insurance won’t be able to cover right now is Matt’s loss of income while his store is closed for business as he works to clean up, assess the loss, and try to recover.

This is where community comes in. We’re starting this GoFundMe account to try to help Matt survive and pay his bills while dealing with a double life crisis. All of the money goes directly to Matt. If you have anything to spare, please consider helping Matt get thru this.

We love y’all and appreciate any help you can provide.
