Pass The Hat
This family man with a heart of gold got the earth shattering news of progressive late stage cancer. The burden of that is enough, but having the enormous financial burden on top of it is enough to break any spirit; but not John, not on our watch. Dig deep. Pass the hat.
From Wonton' s wife:
My husband has stage 4 colon cancer and has been unable to work since December. Please consider donating to a man best described by his friends as: He taught me to drive. He's tougher than a nail in a fryalator but is somehow the kindest person I've ever known. Centaur Pegasus culinary wizard with a cape dropping the kids off at soccer practice in the Genreral Lee. That's Wonton.
I'm not sure how to start this since we haven't been sharing our life consistently on social media, but I feel it's important to be transparent when asking for donations. My husband Wonton John Ward was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in October 2019. He had gone in for a vasectomy and after describing other symptoms about stomach pain was referred out for imaging where the doctors found further complications...the cancer. The tumor in his colon caused an obstruction so bad he had to also undergo a colostomy procedure before we could even start treating the cancer. The procedure has caused such a disruption in his daily living and work life that he has not been able to work since December. This picture on the Go Fund Me link is the day before that procedure and I want to express how grateful I am for this man and all the physical and emotional labor he goes through to still smile and be with us in the present. He has recently started chemo and it breaks my heart to see this strong, bull of a man charge through the pain that he is in every day to remain the head of our household. If you have ever had Wonton in your home, you know his heart and how much he goes out of his way to serve others. Wonton has grown into an amazing husband and father over the last 7 years. I am constantly thankful of how lucky the boys and I are to have him in our lives. My therapist said when I share this news, 80% of people won't care and the other 20% are just glad it didn't happen to them. I believe my therapist is bad at math and that 100% of the people that know and love Wonton will show it by donating or reaching out in a meaningful way. We will be using the funds for treatment co-pays and future liver and colon surgeries. Thank you so much to all who have donated already.
