Her doctors are happy with her body’s physical progress and Tina is finding emotional healing from this traumatic experience through her creative writing. I must let go of this before the New Year -
On Black Friday, November 29th, 2019, at 6pm, I was shot in the chest. I was walking my dog and a buddy’s pup, with two good friends, across the street from my loft by USC.
..
The bullet collapsed my lung, severely lacerated my liver, punctured my diaphragm, broke my ribs and exited out my back. I almost died. And a part of me definitely did.
DAY 8
..
The police have no information. NONE. I have 5 theories.. but that’s for another day. And they are just that, theories.
..
But what I know for sure is, my FAMILY and FRIENDS are the best healers to ever live. Thank you for the LOVE, the visits, prayers, flowers, gifts, phone calls, well wishes and your time.

To the doctors that saved my life.. THANK YOU, I’m in awe of your compassion and your genius. To the nurses that held my hand when I couldn’t take the pain..THANK YOU so much. You’re my ANGELS.

People, those first 9 minutes as I laid on that cement, waiting for the ambulance, not able to breathe, bleeding profusely, in excruciating pain.. OH THE THOUGHTS THAT RAN THROUGH MY HEAD as the LIFE was slowly leaving my body! I don’t have the words to articulate it at this time. But what is clear is God breathed life back in to me for a reason. I’m happy to be here to figure out what GOD’s PLAN for me truly is.

I always loved people, but I now feel so connected to YOU ALL. YOU ARE MY VILLAGE, MY COMMUNITY and I LOVE YOU! I’m here y’all! I’m here!!! HEALING so quickly. Because you made me feel SO LOVED! LOVE IS POWERFUL!

On November 29th, 2019, our DEAR EFFERVESCENT SISTER, Christina “Tina” McDowelle, became yet another victim of senseless gun violence. At approximately 6pm, while walking her dog just a block away from her place near USC in downtown Los Angeles, Tina was SHOT IN THE CHEST. The bullet entered her right side, cracking her ribs, deflating her right lung, severely lacerating her liver, puncturing her diaphragm, and exiting through her back.
This gunshot wound could have ended fatally, but MIRACULOUSLY it did not and Tina survived. She spent 10 days in the hospital where she endured 8 days of an extremely painful tube lodged in her chest cavity, draining the internal bleeding, and training her right lung to inflate again.
LAPD has yet to provide leads on the perpetrators of this heinous crime and a Private Investigator will be needed to help speed up the process of catching the criminal(s) involved.
Gratefully, Tina is now out of the hospital. However, she is still in pain and will be unable to work for months as it is still difficult for her to catch her breath. The road to recovery from this trauma will be a journey, both physically and mentally.
