Carol's Fight

Hello everyone, My name is Olivia and I have created this Go Fund me account in honor of my mom. On January 7th, 2019 she was diagnosed with a type of Sarcoma cancer. We do not know what stage it is until the mass is removed. What the doctors have told us, is this type of cancer has been growing anywhere from 6-10 years. It is the size of a football growing from her pubic bone back adding pressure on her bladder, and the vessels to her right leg. Her only cure is to have the mass removed by an orthopedic surgeon. We have been told this surgery is very extensive, will require 3-5 days in hospital after and it's expensive. My mom does not have insurance and we have looked into several assistance programs, she does not qualify due to her being over poverty level of income. She has since quit her job in hopes to find help. We have already accrued an $8500 hospital stay at University in San Antonio. We have no idea of the financial obligations that lay ahead. Without insurance or some kind of medical assistance the doctors have not even let us schedule a surgery date. Once she has surgery she will be out of work for an additional 3-6 months. I am trying to do my best to help my mom be able to at least get a surgery date, and help her from loosing her apartment. Her apartment is her home, has been for the last 14 years, it may not hers but it is her little escape. We will see the doctor this Monday to discuss finances and surgery options. I am also hosting a benefit in her honor in our home town Kerrville. 
For those of you who don't know my mom...well I'll do my best. My mom like most moms is my ROCK! She has been a single mother since I was 2 years old. Living paycheck to paycheck we didn't have much but I can tell you, this woman provided for me and later my brother with everything in her and still does, and now has grandchildren. She does all she can for anyone she can. She's a very loving daughter, mom, gigi,sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, friend, neighbor. I pray that I can rise in her time of need and give her all the support, strength, and love she has shown me in the last 41 years.
