Hello Katie's friends & family, I'm Ashley, Katie's friend of 20 years. For two decades, I've watched Katie be the first to show up when others need help, never asking for anything in return. Now it's our turn to show up for her.
Katie is a full-time employee with consistently excellent performance reviews, a testament to her fierce determination. She has been diagnosed with asthma and limited lung function, requiring her to use oxygen and inhalers to breathe. Sadly, her mobility has declined, and she is now confined to her bed. Despite this, her spirit remains unbroken.
Katie is fighting to reclaim her independence and get her life back. Her greatest motivation is a moment many of us take for granted: her daughter's graduation from Huntington High in May 2026. She is working relentlessly to be there in person, not just in spirit, to proudly watch her daughter walk across that stage.
With her permission and a humble heart, we are asking for your help to make this profound moment a reality.
Our Roadmap to Graduation
We've broken down Katie's journey into a series of achievable goals. Each step forward brings her closer to her ultimate goal of attending her daughter's graduation.
Goal #1: Restore Mobility at Home ($2,540)
A Hoyer lift (not covered by insurance) and a hospital bed (partially covered) are essential for her in-home physical therapy. These items will allow her to move safely, regain strength, and begin her journey back to mobility.
Celebration: When we reach this goal, Katie will share a video or photo of her first successful therapy session using the new equipment!
Goal #2: Create a Healing Sanctuary ($600)
A thorough deep cleaning of the first floor of her house is necessary to create a safe, positive, and healthy environment for Katie's physical therapy and recovery. This will provide the space and peace of mind she needs to focus on her health.
Celebration: We'll post photos of her newly cleaned and organized space!
Goal #3: Achieve Financial Freedom ($4,000)
Rising medical and living expenses, coupled with existing credit card debt, are a major source of stress. Retiring this debt will free up her resources, allowing her to focus on what matters most: her health.
Celebration: We'll share a message from Katie expressing her relief and gratitude for the support!
Goal #4: Pave the Way Forward ($13,000) (estimate)
Katie has been approved for an electric wheelchair, a vital step toward regaining her independence. However, without a wheelchair ramp, she is unable to leave her home.
Building a ramp is the critical next step. It will give her the freedom to attend essential doctor's appointments and, most importantly, ensure she can be there in person to celebrate her daughter's graduation.
Celebration: We'll post a video of Kate’s first Victory Ride leaving her home for the first time in a long time!
Total Goal: $16,000 (estimate)
Katie has a strong core of supporters, but the journey isn't over yet. We need your help to reach her goals and make this special moment a reality. Your prayers for Katie, her support team, and her family are a source of immeasurable strength, and for that, we are deeply thankful.
Please consider donating any amount you can to support this cause. Your contribution can be a one-time gift or a donation with the accomplishment of each goal. It is through your generosity that she will be one step closer to this incredible day.
Together, we can help Katie proudly watch her daughter walk across that graduation stage in May 2026.
Thank you for being a part of this team effort. *Ashley and Katie's friends
