In memory of Jess

Jess was just 22 years old and was a seemingly healthy young woman. She'd had a cough for a while and had been feeling short of breath but did not want to go to the doctors. She eventually went to the docs on Monday morning and was transferred to hospital. After undergoing some tests and scans it was discovered that Jess had fluid around the heart and the lungs and there was 'an area of concern' in the lung. 24 hours after first going to the doctors, a 'routine' procedure was carried out to drain the fluid from the heart. Sadly the area of concern was a tumor and in draining the fluid the tumor was now restricting blood flow to the heart. Emergency heart surgery was carried out, but Jess did not recover. She passed away in the early hours of 19th May.

Jess leaves behind her mother Delia, her dad Ian Gunn, brother Kieran and sister Milly. Unbelievably, Delia's family had been through the trauma of losing a brother of Jess's at the age of 13 from an asthma attack several years ago, Danny. 

No mother should ever lose a child in this way, and for it to happen to two children at such tender ages is heartbreaking. Likewise, the siblings should never have to experience something like this. I honestly do not know how you get over it. I hope somehow they find a way to do so.

This fundraiser is to help with Funeral costs mainly, but also to help provide the support and care that the family will inevitably need down the line. Delia is on benefits and although her family will help with the costs, many people have asked if there is a fundraiser as they would like to donate something to help.
