As many of you know at the end of October we were given some shocking and surprising news. There was an incidental finding of a brain aneurysm on Mike. What brought him to get checked was him passing out at home. They did a cat scan and found it. They kept him overnight, to monitor him and his heart. When he was discharged he had to wear a heart monitor for 2 weeks. 

So we made an appointment with a
neurosurgeon. During the appointment the doctor explained that the aneurysm was a different kind of shape having 2 lobes. He strongly recommended that it gets taken care of. The doctor said because of where it is, the size and shape it is not a wait and see kind of situation.
He explained the 2 different procedures. One is a CRANIOTOMY -- which is cutting open his skull and clipping it. The other one is a ANGIOGRAM-- which is going through his groin with a catheter all the way to the aneurysm, putting coils in it.

We went to talk to the radiologist about the coiling procedure.  He explained how the procedure worked and told us that there was a 30% chance of Mike having a stroke (1 in 3) if he did have a stroke he would lose his left side, especially his hand. Well that option was out, to big of a chance of having a stroke and Mike uses his hands for work.

So the date for his surgery is JANUARY 10TH at Hartford Hospital. The last couple of months have been stressful and emotional. With all the doctor's appointments, co pays  and taking time off from work we are starting to feel it. I don't get a vacation and not much time off earned. When he has the surgery of course I will be with him and when he comes home as well.

So needless to say it has been a lot to deal with. Thank you for your support.
