Funeral Expenses for My Son
Donation protected
This is written on behalf of Shameeka Williams by a friend of the family. She is hurting too much right now after the loss of her 2nd child in a year's time - and is unable to find the words to express her pain.
On this past Wednesday, November 6th Mia celebrated her first birthday in Heaven. You may remember that her story was shared on many NY local news stations as she attended middle school in Brooklyn, New York. Her family relocated to North Carolina, hoping to provide Mia with some comfort and medical care.
Many of us prayed for Mia's recovery. Her bright smile showed resilience in the face of death. Unfortunately, Mia passed away in December 2018 after her battle with cancer. She not only taught her friends, family, and community what being strong really means - but she united people in love to share her memory of being humble and kind no matter what battles you are facing.
This past Wednesday, on what would have been Mia's 14th birthday, her older brother Jalen Blount committed suicide. We don't know many details at this time, but one can only imagine the trauma and sadness he felt after his younger sister's passing. He carried this burden and unfortunately made the decision to take his own life. He died at the age of 18.
As his mother and younger brother and sister try to make sense of this unexpected loss, just under 12 months of Mia's passing - they have to prepare for his funeral. Right now his family does not have the money to pay for the services to provide Jalen with a proper burial in North Carolina.
We are reaching out once again to ask for your help, in any amount, towards the funeral expenses. We thank you ahead of time for your kind words, love, and support. Please keep Shameeka and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Please pray for her strength to be able to guide and nurture her two children who have now lost TWO siblings within a year's time. She will be reading the comments and managing this account. A mother's pain when she has to bury a child (two children in Shameeka's case) is like no other.
