Lou's Fight for Life

ABOUT LOU:
Don't let the scary beard fool you, he's an absolute teddy bear with a heart of gold and an infectious laugh. Lou makes friends wherever he goes and is loved by everyone who knows him -- from his large extended family, his classmates from Mahopac, friends and brothers from Hofstra, co-workers from Judical Title Insurance, right down to his local gas station attendant.
Lou and Kim married in 2005 and they have two daughters, Gabrielle (6 years old) and Grace (almost 3). They, along with Lou's 90-year old Aunt, recently moved into a house in Carmel, NY.
HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED:
Lou developed sudden and acute pancreatitis, sending his body into shock. Many vital organs have failed as a result of the severe infection, and he's on a respirator in a medically induced coma. He was transferred to a major medical center and is in critical condition in ICU. The situation is life-threatening, and his doctors warned that most people with this level of organ damage won't survive. However, he's young and strong, he has a lot to fight for, and we're remaining optimistic that he's going to pull through.
WHY HE NEEDS HELP:
The best case scenario for Lou would be a recovery after many more surgeries, and many months in the hospital followed by rehabilitation. He has a very long and hard road ahead.
Many have asked how to help and one way is to alleviate the financial burden on his family. The goal we've set is what we estimate is needed to cover loss of salary (to pay household expenses and other expenses), his annual insurance deductible (in anticipation of tremendous medical bills), as well as a rehabilitation facility. In addition to any contribution you choose to make we ask that you continue to keep Lou, as well as Kim and their daughters in your thoughts and prayers. He's needs us all to rally for him!
We'll continue to pass along updates of his progress.
Thank you all!
