On Monday, December 3, 2018 I underwent a 3-5 hour reconstructive surgical procedure which also left me needing around the clock care. In hindsight this procedure is directly related to the gunshot to the back of my neck & paralysis I suffered in New Orleans in March 2014. I am and will continue to work through a number of challenges as a result of these events for the remainder of my time on this Earth. I’m still currently in the hospital recovering and looking to be released home Friday.
Because I’m in need of around the clock care while healing, my mother has been gracious enough to take time away from her job as a Registered Nurse working for the state of Georgia health department.
Although I’m more than appreciative she’s here with me, the reality remains that despite having FMLA in place for a period of time, throughout this period she could essentially go 3-4 weeks with no income whatsoever.
Of course when I mentioned the idea of creating this account she immediately shot it down, saying it would be “embarrassing.” I told her, “Hey, that’s life, IT IS WHAT IT IS.” If you happen to read this an would like to contribute anything towards this cause it would be gratefully appreciated by the both of us! Love❤️.
