6in6 Run for Dave Baxter's Cancer treatment

Donation protected
Hi am Chris Foulk. Over 6 consecutive days ( 13 to 18th Feb) I will be running 6 half marathons and I need your support.

I am reaching out to anyone reading this to raise funds to help pay for Dave Baxter’s  Immunotherapy treatment. In the picture you can see Dave (39), with a lovely wife Vicky, and 2 beautiful Children, Brooke (4) and Riley (not yet 1). Dave and his wife Vicky are close friends of my wife and I, and his daughter Brooke and my son Theo are best buddies. Dave is a top bloke who puts his family first and is great fun to be around. However, In September 2020, he got the news nobody ever wants to hear. He was diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer. This was even more cruel on Dave and his family having lost Katherine, Dave’s older sister to cancer just 2 years previously. It transpires that this was not just a cruel coincidence, as Dave was later diagnosed with lynch syndrome a hereditary condition which leads to a higher chance of getting certain cancers.

Dave was given a date for the tumour to be removed but instead underwent emergency surgery to remove his entire large intestine, due to a blockage caused by the tumour. As soon as Dave was deemed to have recovered sufficiently from the major operation, he began his gruelling chemotherapy, which he is still receiving as I write this. This has made Dave extremely ill and weak. Dave sought expert help in a bid to increase his chances of recovery and has been advised to undertake 4 rounds of immunotherapy treatment NOT available on the NHS at stage 3. This treatment costs thousands just for one round. and Dave has been recommended 4 sessions for maximum effect. The treatment has been proven to be effective in many people, and although not a guaranteed cure, is something which could potentially allow him to make a recovery and remain cancer free for as long as possible.

So why 6 in 6? Well, Dave will have undertaken 6 rounds of gruelling chemo, so my runs will mirror the same round trip that he will have made, from Kimberley, to Nottingham City Hospital each time he has had an infusion. I have never run a marathon before, so running the equivalent 3 of them in just 6 days is going to be extremely challenging, but I will do what it takes to complete this challenge! So please dig deep, any donations will be most gratefully received in contributing to help to keep Dave cancer free!
