In Loving Memory Of Heather Temple

Donation protected
This morning, Tuesday December 4th, Heather Barros Temple passed away after fighting a long battle with cancer. Heather had Leiomyosarcoma, a rare form of a cancerous soft-tissue sarcoma that has no cure. She was a hard worker, a loving wife, and dedicated mother to her two beautiful daughters, Lilly (8 years old) and McKenzie (15 years old). She worked so hard to support her family while battling this terrible disease. In September, the cancer broke both her femurs, but she didn’t give up. After undergoing surgeries to have her tumors removed, she fought hard for months to be able to walk again-- she wanted to prove to her friends and family that no adversity is too tough to overcome.

Her amazing husband, Matt, stuck by her side through her three plus years of battling cancer, working so hard to support and provide for their family. The money raised in this campaign will help take away his financial burden of medical bills and funeral expenses, and will help provide the family with a Christmas. Losing a loved one is awful, especially this close to the holidays. The family deserves to have time to mourn without financial stress.

Here is one of her facebook posts from September 13th describing her battle:

“Leiomyosarcoma sucks. There’s no cure, only treatments that work for some people, but not others. It’s not cut and dry like some cancers are where you remove the tissue, have some radiation and bam, no more cancer ever. To say that it’s terrifying is an understatement. On chemo treatment plan #4 because the first 3 didn’t work, is even scarier. Then having to wait for a scan every 3 months to see if the chemo you’re on, making you feel like shit, is working, to find out it isn’t. I can tell now why a lot of my fellow leiomyosarcoma survivors live out the rest of their life without any treatments. Before everyone chimes in....I’m not there. I have thought of it a lot while I’ve supposed to have been getting stronger and gaining weight (neither of which have happened), in reality I’m weaker and thinner.

So when people ask what they can do. Just pray and send good thoughts and vibes. I don’t really want visitors, I’m sorry I don’t, it wipes me out (seriously-I can nap for like 3 hours after I visit with someone), it hurts (I had original surgery on my jaw...visiting requires lots of talking, which =pain), not to mention how self conscious I am ( I know my friends don’t care how I look, but I do). Dinners are great since Matthew is busting his ass daily doing everything at home and still trying to work, not having to plan and cook dinner really helps.

I just want Lilly to know that I fought. I fought to be here for her. I tried everything that is out there. That if/when I do give up, it’s because I just can’t anymore.”
