Lets help Jim Hosney!

Some of you may have seen Jim Hosney's appeal on his Facebook page for help in finding a part-time job to replace the income he earned at the AFI. Jim is currently unemployed and facing significant financial challenges. More than anything Jim would like to find a part-time job. Over his 40 year career Jim has taught at Westridge School for Girls in Pasadena (1967-1969), Westlake School for Girls (now Harvard Westlake) in Los Angeles (1970-1980), Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences (1982-2007), and the American Film Institute (AFI), (1981-2015) as Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence."Over time (Jim Hosney) has become a minor cult figure...not only for his singular approach to great books and popular culture, but also for the legions of tastemakers who credit their understanding of L.A.'s signature art form -- storytelling -- to him...Hosney's pop culture protégés number in the hundreds -- writers, performers, movie makers, film scholars at USC and UCLA...Dustin Hoffman...drew from Hosney for his portrayal of a professor in "Stranger Than Fiction"...'(Jim's) one of the most important figures in contemporary film who is largely unknown,' said Ron Yerxa, a producer and a longtime friend.
