Language Immersion Trip to Spain

My name is Gabriela Zalam and I am honored to have been chosen to participate in the IU Honors Program in Foreign Languages this summer. My preliminary acceptance was based on strong overall academic standing and high performance in the target language, recommendations from 2 teachers and an adult mentor, a writing sample in Spanish, and the many applications I had to submit. I am super excited about this because I have always wanted to have an experience like this.
This is a 6 week trip to Spain where I will be immersed in the Spanish language. I will attend daily classes in grammar, culture, and literature, phonetics, and conversation. I will participate in planned activities such as theater, singing, dancing, and sports. This is very exciting to me because it will help me to become confident in speaking Spanish. Not only will my proficiency in the language improve, but this trip will positively impact my education. I also hope to become more globally aware and hopefully build lifelong friendships. This will be my first experience traveling without my parents, but I am hopeful that it will help me grow and gain self confidence, since I will be living with a host family. I also have a passion for Flamenco dance and this would help me to finally see authentic Flamenco dance and maybe even take a class. It is a dream come true but I can't do this alone. I need your help. I will also be required to speak in Spanish during the entire trip!
Although my parents have already paid for a portion of my trip, one of the requirements for this trip is that I am responsible for raising money for the fee's. As a high school student, my job at Piada is not going to be enough, which is why I am hoping you will consider sponsoring me so I will have the opportunity to go on this educational trip. These funds will pay for my program fee's for the 6 week course, course-related fees, host family stays, and program-related excursions. ANY amount is appreciated. If you could donate to my gofundme and then share it with your network, I would be awesome. I have never done this before and it would mean a lot to me to have your support. If you prefer to send a check directly to me, feel free to contact me or my mom and we will give you the information to make that happen. I have to make payments in Feb and March and I am hoping to collect the remainder no later then April 15 so I will be ready to make the final payment.
