My dear mother, Ruby Grant, left the world last week due to renal failure. When we heard the news, my son’s response was, “I thought grandma would outlive all of us.” “Yes, grandma was a fighter,” I responded. She endured a lot, and these last few years she’s been battling COPD and using a dialysis machine twice per week.

Ruby has reunited with her children that went before her: Desnille “Tyrone” Grant, Orville “Tyson” Grant, Andrea Pamela Claire Grant, and Carrine “Tots” Grant. She leaves behind her son, Denville “Patrick” Dixon, her daughter, Corrine “Mitzy Sky” Taylor, her sister Emmeline Bravo-Blackwood, her sister-in-law Charlene Chambers, and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many others who love her dearly.
