Help My Uncle — A Devoted Father and Fighter
Donation protected
This is my uncle someone I looked up to deeply when I was a kid. He’s always been incredibly intelligent, kind-hearted, and full of potential. Watching him struggle, fight, and rebuild his life over the years has been both heartbreaking and inspiring.
Four years ago, he made the courageous decision to get sober after a long battle with alcoholism. Since then, he’s worked tirelessly to rebuild his life. He held down long-term roles as a software engineer, remained committed to his recovery, and most importantly, continued to be a loving and present father to his 16-year-old daughter, whom he still supports.
Earlier this year, he lost his job after his employer lost a federal contract. By March, he had found new work and was hopeful about a fresh start. But tragically, complications from his disease took a devastating turn. He fell into a coma and spent 20 days in the hospital. Doctors have now diagnosed him with terminal conditions related to his illness.
Since this sudden health crisis, he has had no income. He was still in the probationary period at his new job, making him ineligible for paid leave or medical benefits leaving him financially vulnerable at the worst possible time.
While there is a glimmer of hope the possibility of a liver transplant the road ahead is daunting. Even if he is approved and receives the transplant, the extensive recovery time puts his job and health insurance in serious jeopardy.
This GoFundMe is to help relieve the immense financial pressure he’s under and allow him to focus on what truly matters his health, his dignity, and his daughter. Donations will go directly toward medical bills, daily living costs, and ensuring his daughter is cared for during this incredibly difficult time.
My uncle has worked so hard to turn his life around. He’s been sober for four years. He’s never stopped trying. And he doesn’t deserve to face this alone.
If you can donate, even just a little, it will mean the world to our family. And if you can’t give right now, please share this with others who might be able to help.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart
