Matthew's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Family & Friends,

God has tested our dearest Matthew once again. On April 18th, four months after his second open heart surgery in ten years, Matthew suffered a stroke. This was caused by a blood infection that traveled to the valve of his heart, causing a clot to break off and then travel up to his brain. For the privacy of him and our family, and uncertainty of the future, the damage that was caused will not be publicly disclosed at this time.

However, we can share that he is in the ICU and is in stable condition. The infection damaged his new heart valve and will need to have it replaced again, but the date of that surgery is to be determined in the near future. In the interim, they are working to fight off the infection and slowly rehabilitate him.

It comes with the heaviest of hearts that Wayne, Nancy, Matthew & Michael create this page to ask our family and friends for help during this time, in any way possible. As you are aware, medical bills are adding up and will continue to add up when he undergoes his third open heart surgery and sets out on his long road to recovery. Both his short term and long term care are the priority.

Many of you have been asking how you can help Matthew and the family. We're asking that if you can find it in your hearts to donate some of your hard earned money, it would mean the world to Matthew and us. And if you can't or are unable to, we just ask that you share this page to extend its reach and pray for him. Every little bit counts.

One thing that we do know is that Matthew is a fighter. He's the strongest person we know and he will never give up. He's lived by the words tattooed on him: "Nothing's impossible when you realize the strength is inside. Embrace the struggle when it's all you can see. Words only come to life when you believe." We too must live by these words and we believe in him.

#WeenieStrong now takes on a new meaning, but the end goal of coming out of this stronger than ever is the same.

In closing, we hope to use this page and Facebook to provide any updates on Matthew. We may not have many, but if/when we do, we will post them. In the meantime, we thank you for lending us your time, thoughts, prayers, ears, eyes and hearts.

We love you Matthew.
