Hello,

The man in the photo is Gordon Lott.

He is a hard working, lovable, family man who brings laughter to everyone around him.

Sadly, he has recently become functionally, a quadriplegic.

We are hoping to raise funds to pay some of the many medical expenses that are a result of this.

Back story:

Several years ago, Gord was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. This required him to undergo daily dialysis treatments. Gord was able to take this unfortunate turn of events in stride and continued living a (mostly) normal life.

As is common with this type of treatment, Gord got a minor infection. He was able to treat this with antibiotics. Shortly after this, Gord began to notice a loss of motor skills in his legs and arms. Weeks later he was unable to stand or hold items in his hands for any period of time. This paralysis in his limbs continued to progress, and he has been unable to move his hands, arms, legs, or feet for months.

He has been in the Kingston General Hospital for months while they try to diagnose his illness.

They have diagnosed him with CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory De-myelinating Polyneuropathy). They have tried several treatments, including plasmapheresis, but have made no progress.

Now the hospital is telling him that he has to leave, as they are unable to make any progress in treating him.

My family has made the decision to bring Gord home so that he can be cared for by family on a 24 hour basis.

We are hoping to raise funds to buy a hospital bed, lifting device, and to make renovations to the house including a ramp to allow us to wheel him in and out when needed.

We ask that you give what you are willing, to allow Gord to have the same level of hospital care at home surrounded by his family.
