Hi, I am (embarrassingly) starting a GoFundMe in order to pay privately for top surgery in the UK.

I have felt as though there was “something wrong with me” for most of my life, but have only allowed myself to address what that is this year. I have already paid around £2000 to see the two gender doctors that are required to tell you that you have gender dysphoria; get the necessary paperwork in order to start hormone therapy and get the pieces of paper I need for the surgery.

The current wait times to be diagnosed, have your appointments and then have this surgery on the NHS is between 7-10 years. I have already spent 35 years being uncomfortable as the person, and gender, I was. I’m hoping this surgery will allow my body to align with my mind and how I really feel.

I don’t really like asking for money because it feels a bit beggy, but I would be really grateful for anything that will take me one step closer to getting the surgery.
