Urgent need! Single mom; Unexpected job loss

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Jennifer. This fundraiser is for a friend who is a single mom of two school-age kids. Her identity is protected here to prevent employer retaliation. During the pandemic, she took a job at a start-up that allowed her to manage all obligations: being a sole provider, parent, now homeschool teacher. The job allowed her to work from home and create her own schedule. She was concerned about the incredible pay cut she would have to take to make it work, but felt she had little choice as she was sequestered at home with her kids. It was a paycheck-to-paycheck existence but she was told the company would grow significantly and profits would be shared. She has worked for nonprofits and community based organizations for a long time. This was an entirely new path, but she was willing to commit in hopes that she would be able to grow her family’s financial security, and because it provided flexibility for schooling her kids during the pandemic.
She stayed on post-pandemic because she had put considerable work into it and was fully committed to its success. She lives frugally (36k per year for a family of three) and worked hard, bringing all of her professional expertise and creativity to the project that was expected to return significantly for her time and commitment.
On December 30, 2023, she was told that there was no longer a role for her at the company and that she would not be paid further. She had not been paid enough to maintain any emergency savings, and to make matters worse, her dentists found an infected tooth the week before Christmas, telling her she would need an implant that is not covered by insurance and sent her home with a week’s worth of antibiotic. Sacrificing and living hand to mouth has yielded nothing, she has been taken advantage of by a wealthy business owner at a tech startup.

Five thousand dollars will get her though the month, help her deal with the first stage of a dental implant and buy a little time to look for a new job. She lives in a very cold part of the country, and heating bills can be significant. January is very literally the most dangerous month of the year to be put out of work for her location. Anything you can spare to help out would be so deeply appreciated.
She is the kind of person who will pitch in to help, no questions asked, and has no extended family or other resources to help fill this gap.Thank you for considering this request.
