My Dad, Craig Harwood needs help.
Last week he suffered a debilitating heart attack. His Left Aortic Decending Artery was 100% blocked. The immediate insertion of a stint failed.
Craig underwent emergency bypass surgery a week ago.
Since his surgery, the hospital staff have struggled to keep his blood pressure and heart rate consistent. Staff also had difficultly regulating his blood sugar.
After 11 days of hospitalization, Craig was finally released on July 26th.
Craig will need 90 days of total rest. No dishes, no laundry, and no wrenching.
Craig does not carry medical insurance and the state of Michigan has declined him state aid.
His estimated hospital bills could reach near $200,000.
In this life, there are people who combine both their occupational gift and generous heart to help others when they are in need. Craig Harwood is such a person. Since his Whitmore Lake days as a teen, he has been wrenching on cars and providing both his expert advice and incredible mechanical abilities to diagnose and repair vehicles. Working through dealerships and in his own shop in Kalkaska, he has provided his services to so many friends, family and those within his community for 45 years. His expertise, along with his kindheartedness to go the extra mile, have been appreciated by all when it was needed. Everyone who knows Craig has benefited in one way or another from his goodwill. So many look to him for repairs and assistance knowing of his sincere and honest personality, his genuine work ethic, and the fact that he can very often determine the cause of a vehicle problem that baffles others. His knowledge of mechanics is what makes Craig tick!
The surgery and extensive damage to his heart will have both short and long-term effects on his physically demanding career. At this point, it is unknown if he will even be able to return to running his shop and repairing cars. Without work he will not be able to attend to the mounting medical bills, as well as those of his home and shop.
Any financial donation to help my dad in the most dire situation he has ever faced, would be deeply appreciated. Thank you so very much!
