Keeping our Hydrotherapy Pool open
Donation protected

My name is Gemma Rylatt and I am a Trustee of The Pool located at Humberston Park Special School. The Pool opened in 2007 after being built with money raised through community fundraising. Donations continued to come in until COVID when the income reduced considerably which has been further compounded by the increased cost of utility bills. 2 years ago we were paying £12k and this year we will need to pay £36k. A combination of the two challenges are threatening the closure of our pool within 6 months.
Why is a Hydrotherapy pool so important? It can help alleviate pain and discomfort associated with conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, and back pain. The warm water in a hydrotherapy pool can also improve blood flow and circulation, which can promote healing and reduce inflammation. Additionally, hydrotherapy can help reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation, and improve sleep.
These pools can also help improve flexibility and range of motion, making it easier to perform daily activities and reducing the risk of injury. Hydrotherapy pools provide a low-impact form of exercise that is gentle on the joints and muscles, making it ideal for individuals with mobility issues or chronic pain. Overall, hydrotherapy pools can provide a safe and effective way to improve physical and mental health, making them a valuable addition to any wellness or rehabilitation program.
Funds will be used to provide maintenance, chemicals, energy and utility bills. No Trustee of the Pool takes a salary.
