Tammy's Transplant
As many of you know, my mom is preparing for a kidney transplant. In January of this year Mom went in for a routine exam and discovered her blood pressure was 210/106! She was immediately admitted into the hospital while doctors investigated the cause of the high blood pressure. At the end of her seven day stay, which included numerous tests and a kidney biopsy, she was diagnosed with an aggressive kidney disease. She was told she had 33% kidney function left and doctors estimated that she had 2 to 3 years before the kidneys would fail. However, over the course of merely six months her kidney function had fallen to less than 10%, End Stage kidney failure. At this point, Mom found herself starting dialysis. In July, she had a permanent catheter placed in her stomach and began dialyzing for eight hours every night at home.
Thankfully insurance has paid for much of the cost. However, there have been several unexpected out of pocket expenses and more looming with the transplant and post-op medication that will continue indefinitely. Additionally, she's running out of her available sick time at work, which will leave her without an income while she goes through her surgery and recovery.
We would welcome donations to help Mom get through this difficult time. More importantly, your thoughts and prayers are so appreciated! Thank you. And a huge thank you to my brother who is graciously donating a kidney to Mom, a match made in heaven. ❤️#Tammy'sTransplant
